  • Looking for 79' Rear grab bar.

Not interested in paying $200. I can wait.. If you would like to trade for a part to a 78' or 79' ask. I have parts listed on Excel files. To many to remember.

    Hi Sightseeing,

In all honesty, if you actually see one of those pull bars, and must have one for a restoration project, you should just buy it! Among the many small handful of TRULY hard-to-find parts for these machines (XS11) perhaps the most sought after item COULD BE the '79 Special Grab Bar.

Personally, I've seen literally dozens of posts over the years looking for these elusive grab bars. I hadn't paid much attention as I didn't own a '79 in my earlier years on XS11.com. I however purchased an SF 5-6 years ago and was quickly approached by a few guys wanting the grab bar and offering decent money for the bar when I had paid only $400 (which was probably too much) for the whole damn bike. It might even be a great idea to find a POS '79 SF and buy the whole damn thing just to get the pull bar?

Although my '79 SF is ENORMOUSLY customized with misc. parts from misc. year XS11's and other Yamaha parts I'm retaining the grab bar. It would certainly be of greater value on a "RESTORATION" bike than on mine but I'm going to keep it on there all the same.

I'm assuming these bars were pulled off in favor of sissy bars, or racks, or similar and just tossed in the rubbish..... They are certainly like hen's teeth to find!! If you see one for $200, buy it as I have seen them go for double that!

I tried to find one for my SF here in the UK but no chance I also needed a seat as the one it came with was off another Yam. so in the end I used the seat and grab handle off an SG.

how about getting one made ? a length of same size stainless tube and finding a pipe bender. then after getting some brackets welded on it can be polished up like chrome.

ID:	871300 Thanks Kurt. I had purchased one a few years back for $80 not needing to be replated and saw one sell for $85. Looking for one for my 79' Turbo. I put grab back on Special. I am patience. Plating is expensive. I was at the Rally with my 78', I enjoyed all the bikes. You took two friends to the Tail of The Dragon. The younger one Dillon sold his sport bike when he arrived home, the long ride wore him out and he purchased more of a cruiser 2003 Suzuki Intruder VS 800.

There's a guy on Facebook selling a grab bar for an 80. Not sure if they're the same. His name is Keaton Blockr.

'80 is not a fit for the '79. Not even close.

I'll wait for awhile. I can purchase one on Ebay but way to high $200 and may need plating.

I have a 79 special grab bar. Very good condition. I was fortunate to find an NOS one years ago and it is on my bike. 150 and away it goes. Vance 248 736 6222. The bar was on my bike with 16000 miles.
