Yep, Michael "Mercury" Morse, an expert at Vintage Brake recommended this master cylinder as a good upgrade for an XS11 Special with SS lines.

Here is an excellent quality substitute, perfect for use with SS lines. It has a 16mm bore instead of the stock 17mm (11/16") which becomes too large for use with lines with no "swell". Either a left or right hand threaded mirror can be used with it by changing the bar clamp front bracket. It is powdercoated and the one I have still looks like new 8 years later. The lever "feel" is superb (not like wood) and turns the crappy stock Special brakes into something sooo much better.

It is the wrong size unit for Standard models with different sized caliper pistons.

They are listed on eBay as well...

Any suggestions on a lesser expensive subsitute? It seems that this is a rather expensive part if you want an origianal or NOS part.

Any leads would be much appreciated! Need break lines too but I think I will find some braided lines somewhere.
