  • Looking for this bike

Taking an incredibly long shot here.
The motorcycle in these pictures belonged to my Father. The old picture is of me in 1984. The newer is of my Father and my Son in the early 2000s. Same bike. It is, I believe, a 1979 Yamaha XS11 (He always described it as a Special, but others have since disputed that.. not really sure myself). He sold that bike to someone in Holland or Zeeland, MI sometime shortly before 2012.
I am looking for this bike. My Son, who was incredibly close to my Dad, would absolutely love to have it.
Unfortunately my parents have both passed and they didn’t keep any record of it.
It would mean the world to us if we can locate it. I know the likelihood is incredibly low, but I have to take a shot.
If, by some miracle, you know this bike or have any tips on finding it, please message me.

Alternatively, if I can find one very similar to it (bags, fairing, color, etc) in good shape, I may consider that if all else fails.

    Thanks in advance!

Too bad you don't have some record of the vin. Most DMV's can do a check on the vin.

I'm sure this is a long shot at best, but maybe your Dad (or the buyer of his bike) registered the VIN here on this XS1100 registry:

        Good luck with your search!

Agreed. Unfortunately, they just didn't keep great records.

                Eric,

I was looking back at Members Lounge 2011 posts. Sometimes Members found bikes For Sale and posted them in case somebody might be interested.

                https://xs11.club/forum/idle-talk-fo...lounge/page240

Page 240 Starts 2011 and it runs to Page 300. I've browsed through there but didn't see anything that might be a match to a For Sale decked out 79' Standard in Michigan.
Maybe look there a little more or go beyond Page 300 into 2010 or earlier than Page 240 into 2012. Of course any craigs list or ebay links would be long gone but there could be a discussion about the bike or its buyer if it was somebody from here at XS11.
