  • Rectangular headlight wanted

I recently picked up a 1979 Xs1100 f (venturer). I’ve removed the fairing and would like to install an original equipment headlight. The bike only has 12,000 miles and the fairing (indigo blue) is in very good to nearly excellent condition. I may be interested in trading for the properly equipped headlight in excellent shape or buying outright. Can anyone help me or at least get me pointed in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

You probably need something like this...

BTW, your 79 is not a Venturer, it is a 79F Standard with a factory installed faring. The Venturer is an 81 only model.

Yeah that looks to be a pretty good deal.....I remember seeing just the bucket or just the head light for $75.....and that’s the correct fork ears and reflectors throw in too. I bet if you got a can of Mother’s you could get everything but the bucket looking good. Those reflectors aren’t just factory correct and hard to find, they hold the headlight on.

          did you get one?

          Did you find one yet?

I traded the reflector/bolts to a friend a year or so back for a gas cap but the bucket, ears, bulb, trim ring are here.

            Headlight bucket

Hey Kurt, I actually did find not one but two. And between the two Ive got everything that I need (I believe) in pretty nice shape. Life got in the way and I'm just now getting ready to do the install. Now for the fun part of correctly matching up the wire harness or lack there of from the old fairing to the new headlight and turn signals. Thanks for check though. Already looking forward to September!
