  • Frame Tail Extensions Wanted

Many have converted their XS's to cafe style bikes. Most of these conversions start by chopping off the tail extensions and adding a loop. I have an XS850 Special I am trying to restore to stock, but the PO has cut the frame extensions off just behind the shock mount. I friend in Canada sent me his, but they ended up in the Dead Letter Office from which it is unlikely to be retrieved. If anyone has these pieces from an XS750 Special or 850 Special frame, please contact me by PM. Extensions from an XS1100 may work as well, but I am not sure.

    Thanks,

There is a junkyard 2 hours from here that has carcasses all over the place, including XS750/XS850. If you had a place like that nearby, you could get the pieces or the whole frame cheaply.

Sometimes you find the whole frame available. There was one on Craigs List in this area recently for $100.

If it were me, I'd swap the whole frame. Hard part is getting a cheap frame with a title. Parts bikes are frequently around $200.

      Larry,

There's a new forum, www.yamahaxs.com, trying to get off the ground. There are two FB groups dedicated to triples.

Are you aware of VYR in Sept? It's relatively close to you.
