This SG I just bought came with air box parts in a box, a complete bottom but only a few parts to put the top together.

I NEED PARTS OR A COMPLETE AIR BOX TOP, CONDITION NO MATTER.

      air box

Waiting for parts decided to fit the air box into the bike with the carbs still in place (didn't think it could be done but Steve showed me it can). The boots of the air box do not want to line up with the carbs, noticed a little nub on the boots and turned them so that this nub is at 12 o'clock, still can't get them on the carbs.
Wanted to check if I have this orientation correct ?

        Jog Points Inboard

I haven't done this in couple years, but...

It seems the inner two couplers are straight, so they don't matter about the orientation.

It seems the outer two have a jog. The jog is oriented to get the outer two holes in the airbox to fit the holes on the carbs, that are more inboard (close together).

          Thank You !
Any chance you can see what position these little nubs are at ?
Or it could be the air box was sitting around on a shelf so long that the rubber got stiff ?

            Nubs?

I don't remember any nubs, but I'll look this evening.

Looking at pictures of airboxes on eBay, it looks like I might be mistaken about the orientation of the outer two boots. From the pictures, it looks the the carb spacing is wider then the airbox. If it's true, the outer boots would, jog outboard to meet the carbs instead of inboard.

These tiny nubs are not easy to see, at least with my eyes. These nubs are on the air box side of the boots and when positioned at 12 O'clock they are orientated as you say. To find these I used a 3000LM flashlight, it was in the garage the lights were not lighting the area well.

Sounds like you've got it sorted, but I thought I'd add to this, for the next person who finds this post looking for how to orient their boots.

All boots have a little rounded nub on them and these should all be pointing either up or down. Although, the middle two might not matter, as they are probably straight. The outer two are angled, so their orientation does matter. On my bike, these two also had a pointed nub in addition to the rounded one; the pointed one's should point to the outside of the bike (point to the right for the right carb and left for the left carb).

If you can't find any of these nubs, you could also orient the boots by feel. Stick the straightest looking ones in the middle and the angled ones on the sides, then put a straight edge across the boots where they attach to the carbs. If all boots meet the straight edge evenly; you're done. If not; try twisting them. If that's not doing it, move them from one position to the other the until they are even on the straight edge.

If they are hard, or don't fit tightly into the airbox, they can be softened: https://youtu.be/b-UzW0nXbcw

P.S. somewhere in my brain there was a method of posting pictures right to the thread,, dang if I can find it, prolly put it somewhere so I wouldn't loose it };-)
