    Grab bar

I think I have my original around here someplace. I'll try to take sometime today to look around upstairs in the shop. It's never been mounted on my bike, but I haven't seen it in years. I'll have to open some boxes and move some stuff, so be patient.

      Will wait patiently

Hope you find it. You use the same parts system I use.

        I did a quick look

yesterday in some obvious places but only found two bars for an E. I'm riding today, but when I get back I'll move the search upstairs in the shop. It will be daunting but I know it's got to be up there someplace.

          Sorry

I searched everywhere yesterday and I can't find it. I had the original seat hanging on a wall for 33 years and gave it to Duds in 2010. I must have included the grab bar at the same time. Sorry man!

            Don't

give up yet. I just sent him an E-mail and asked him if he has it. He's an RAF pilot in the UK so if he is deployed at the moment, it may take some time for a response. Have you checked with Andreas yet?

                No promises....

                Vedgar,
Do you have one and need a nicer one or do you have nothing at all?

There is a Motorcycle Junk Yard in my region that I've been meaning to visit again. I will probably go there the weekend following Memorial Day Weekend as I need a couple little things. I took photos the last time I went there and they have a couple '79s and one clearly has a pull bar on it in one of my photos.

If you are after "Perfect" forget this idea. If you need something in DECENT shape which probably has a LITTLE rust on it I think I MIGHT be able to find that. I suspect I can get such an item for $25 (maybe a little more).

                Thoughts?

                    Mebbe have one

I think I have a 79SF grab bar though it doesn't curve back to the same degree as those shown in the stock photos. Looks like the attachment points match up with my 78E. I'll post a pic this evening.

Then the difference between the SF and G grab bars would be easy to spot ...

Prisoner 6, I would agree with you it looks like the grab bar for an 80G, I think the upright part of the one for the 79SF actually is angled towards the back of the seat.

That sure looks to me like a G grab bar ... definitely not a '79SF grab bar.

                              -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                              Vedgar,

If Darrell's grab bar is indeed from a G, it shouldn't be a problem to mount it on your SF ...

It will just look a little different mounted on the SF.

Because the G bar doesn't have the SF bar's extra upward bend in the middle (by the turn signals), and because the SF seat doesn't extend back as far as a G seat ...

You'll have a larger gap in the back between the G bar and the SF seat (compared to stock SF appearance).

Maybe you two can work something out ...
