  • Left Control w/4-way Switch

    XS Folks,
Looking for a working left control with the 4-Way switch. Trying to get the DEAD DUCK ready to run. PO screwed with the wires in it and soldering them back into the proper positions is impossible.

I checked with Andreas, he doesn't have one.....

    Sincerely,
    KURT

Mike's XS has a new one. You might have to move some wires in the connector. You'll have to find a new home for the four-way flasher switch. Maybe move it under the tank? The location of that switch in the bottom of the housing makes it susceptible to moisture and corrosion. When you need it, it may not work anyway.

Thanks Marty. I saw that one with Mikes and it may become an option. Although I think I may actually have one of that style in my spares stash.

Although there are some big differences in my three 11's they also have a lot of common parts. I'd like to keep them all the same where possible. Makes it easier to steal from Peter to pay Paul! I pulled the switch from Mayberry and tossed it on the Dead Duck and everything worked perfectly. It'll be a lot easier to plug & play if I can find one rather than start another re-wire project on this bike.....

FYI....The 4-ways work on both my other 11's and I've actually used them the other day. I was stopped at a red light on "The DUCK" and saw a dude coming up pretty fast in my rear-view. I flipped on the 4-ways and I think he MIGHT have seen them as he did start slowing down.

If I don't find one in a week or two I'll start the modification process.....

      Sincerely,
      KURT

No need to do much modifying of the bike. Just move the pins in the connector of the new switch if necessary. I have XS650 wiring diagrams to tell if it's required. Move the pins to a smaller receptacle on the bike side and add a two wire connector for the new flasher switch. It will be nice and neat. You know all this, but who else is reading?
