  • WANTED: Memphis Shade (or very similar)

    XS Friends,
I'm looking for a Memphis Shade for my Mayberry Duck. I have one on The Duck that was provided by one of our XS11.com friends and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Never had a bike before with a windscreen but won't do without one now! I want to buy the same or something similar for Mayberry. The one I have is 24"(+/-) at it's widest point and extends 20" (+/-) above my headlamp. I could be interested in other styles or a slightly different size but anything too much taller would not fit my small 5'11'' frame well.

If you've got one you want to sell please send me a PM.

I'm gonna wait a few days (+++) to see if anyone has anything they want to get some money for before I buy a new one.

Although the one I am using may have been cobbled together, it is a great benefit! Thanks Marty!

Ah yes the benefits of a windscreen...they may not be pleasing to the eye but the older we get the more we appreciate the comfort and protection they offer. Now a fully faired bike with a Windjammer works even better....the tradeoff with either is more weight more wind resistance...less gas mileagr...but more comfort and.less fatigue fighting the elements...makes
function.over form win the day... Ugly is beautiful...YMMV

            MadMax,

I'm not quite there YET. I still very much enjoy my Mini-Maxim (XJ550) which does not have a windscreen for shorter trips. However, I won't drive anywhere long distance without the comfort and protection I've learned to enjoy from the Memphis Shade.

I'm not really a fan of the full windscreen/jammer. I don't yet see as much benefit as others do and looks are still a bit important to me. I have one of those full front fairings which came off an '80 standard and MIGHT have been from a Venturer I'm not sure, but I am very confident it won't find a home on any of my Specials.....

It's more of a Man-Cave decoration for me as it won't fit into the attic hole for long term (and often forgotten) storage

To me, the Memphis (or Similar like shown by Marty above) will allow me to retain the general "flavor" of a Special without effecting the bike's overall absolutely stellar good looks!

Kurt...that looks to be a Venturer fairing indeed...the advantages of a frame mounted fairing vs. a fork mounted windscreen...you wont really notice the differences if you dont truly ride long distances...if you do one day then you will understand/appreciate the frame mounted fairing for its long range comforts and superior weather protection to any fork mounted windscreen...BTDT...

+1 on the comfort and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to like the look of the Venturer. Which may be why I have one
