To be completely honest Tom, I scored the shifter linkage from the same guy that I bought the foot rests and brake pedal from as stated in my earlier post.

Also on account of the time difference and a delay in a shipping quote on a gearbox cover that I was committed to buy, but wasn't sure on til last night, I couldn't post that I won it til this morning.

But your efforts, my fine man, are not wasted and greatly appreciated, as I will be more than glad to purchase the cover and "possible" linkage as this will not be the last XS Special Sport that will grace the US tarmac coming from my man-cave.

The riding position, these Sport parts offer, transforms Our Specials, IMHO, into what should've been offered in the US at the time of manufacture, but this country had an influence (HD) that the Japanese capitalized on and are still running with.

      1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
      1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
      1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
      1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

        Haha no worries John
My mate has just messaged and informed me he hasn't got the gear lever and linkage.

I'll buy the cover and put in my stash until you or someone else wants it.

I never understood why you lads never got the Sport model from Yamaha, or come to think of it why you lads didn't get the BIG tank on all your Standards like we did, you lads have the vastness to ride that the big tank would be ideal for.
