    Looking for Standard gas tank

I'm looking to replace my special tear drop tank with a standard tank. Does anyone have one for sale? I'm in Southern California.
    Thanks.

I have one that I am not using. I does need some work (cleaned, body work, lined and painted). I will send pics when I get home from work.

        Hey Ty.
Yes, I'm interested in the tank. Is the internal rust heavy? I have been successful in removing light to medium rust from insides previously using the non toxic stuff they sell. Do you think this one is save-able?
As I understand it, my current petcocks are not compatible with this tank. Is that your understanding?
        Thanks,
        Terry

          Hi Terry,
You are correct. Special petcock will no fit the standard tank. There are aftermarket petcocks available that fit or you can look for used ones on the forum. So not a deal breaker. Picture shows internal rust that will need to be dealt with. Also read up about the tank to saddle fit issue for mounting a standard tank.

I believe it is salvageable. When I striped the paint off I did not find any pin holes. The chrome around the filler hole has a screw rusted that will need to be addressed so that you can paint it. It has rust inside that also needs to be fixed. PM me with your address and we can work out details. I do have a sending unit that I will include with the tank (the wires are cut and I don't know if it even works) if nothing else it can be used as a plug.

              Thanks Phil.
I would like to use new petcocks. do you know of a source for these?
I guess there is a thread here somewhere that deals with the saddle fitment issue? Yes?
