  • 1-4 Shift Fork (#1)

Hoping to find a decent Shift Fork #1

    P/N 2H7-18511-00

It is the fork that pushes fourth gear into first gear.

        Rasputin!

Nevermind....I hope to start reassembly by Friday with the fork I have. I studied the thickness on the bugered areas, and it not that bad after I cleaned the burrs.

I don't want you tearing your engines apart on my behalf.

Thank you for the kind offer.

Could you have a little weld added to it to bring it back to spec ?

I like the way you think

Funny you should mention that. I had the thought,

...and then I went on to ponder if it would be an improvement to first gear if I could make a weld over the entire surface and grind it smooth, making the fork a little thicker than stock, in a way that would push 4th gear a little closer into 1st gear.

I didn't check the fourth gear travel yet to see if it is stopped up against the washer on the countershaft. If it is, then pushing it more won't do any good.

Also, the fork has to be loose enough in the 4th gear slot so it doesn't drag.

My intuition would be that it would be a good thing to add a little material on the face of the shift fork.

I don't have welding equipment (yet), so I put this thought on hold for future experimentation.
