  • 11E or F Exhaust needed (any condition)

I could use a old exhaust system for an E / F as I want to use them to fire the engine up for the first time and dial in the carbs. I do not care about the condition really, as long as they are for an E/F and function. Let me know if you have an old set for sale. I have NOS pipes (really....) and want to make sure that the carbs are close to dialed in before putting on the shiny new pipes........or something like that

    Thanks much,

    Craig

Why do something twice when you can do it once? I agree with put them on and tune it.

Yup, exhaust changes your carb settings. Put the ones on that you are going to use.

Okay, you guys have convinced me What you are saying makes perfect sense so I will take the bad boys out of the Yamaha box today. It will be like opening a time capsule !!

The fellow in CA that did my carbs did bench test them with stock pipes so realistically I should be okay for a starting point. My biggest issue is that I am NOT really a carb guy and lose restoration confidence when messing with them. I have seen it done in person and have the mercury gauges / adjusting tool.......but I have also seen several open heart surgeries as well

Well.....its all part of the joy of motorcycle restoration ! Besides, now that I let it out of the bag that I have NOS pipes......I don't want any of you XS-Ninjas to find my garage !!

Now if only one of you carb experts lived near Orlando.......hmmmmmm.....

              Thanks for the advice everyone.
