Have a 1979 xs 1100F w/square headlight and gauge set. Would like to convert to round headlight and gauge set. Assume I need to change out the ears on the top of the forks ... what else? can this be done? Anyone have the parts needed? Post me here or give a call 22four23four889six

Thanks for the reply ... Can I re-wire the connectors? Are the sending units the same? Anyone out there parting out a XS 1100 Special that has the round headlight & guages + wiring harness and mounting ears & brackets THANKS! Please give me a call or Text 22four23four889six - grandaddy-O

The biggest issue I see you'll have is the special round tach has a fuel warning light vice an actual level gauge.
You can change out the tank sending unit from your standard tank to the special's tank level sensor unit and that should take care of that.
(Green wire to the tach is the sending unit wire)

I need a square headlight and ears. I have a round one with the braket. Maybe we can trade?

You don't need to change the ears. I did my swap with just the headlight bucket.

It does look better though if you swap the ears.

The special ears are rounded and the standard ears are more squarish looking. Nothing major, just a little detail.
