1980 SG seat wanted

Hello all. I am a new owner of a 1980 SG, and want to find an original seat for it. I have purchased 2 from eBay, and both did not fit. The first was from a 79, and after some research here, I discovered that it wouldn't fit. My mistake. Then I got one that was supposedly off an 80, but it doesn't fit either. The black ignition box is in the way. So I think that seat is from a 78 or 79. The pan looks identical to the one I have from a 79.

So, I need some help. I would like to find an original seat, and thought that all 1980-1981 seats would work for my SG, correct? If you have one , I would like to purchase it. Thank you!

Welcome aboard!! Glad to have ya. You may want to list those seats in the parts for sale section. There is a member, Jeff, looking for a seat, but I don't remember what year he is looking for.

The SG seat looks like this:

Any '80 or '81 XS1100 Special seat will fit correctly. The shape of the cushion changed between 1980 and '81. If you can come up with a good pan, Saddlemen has a nice repop cover for $50-$60.

Thanks guys. I have one on eBay now, the other I am going to return. Is there any easy way to tell which seat it is? I assume that the depth where the black box is would be the main thing, but sometimes you can't tell from pictures.
