          78e

Still looking for a 78E in really nice original form, but as close to Georgia as possible. Unfortunately for me, I just don't seem to be able to justify going to the left coast to get one. Simply too far. Now I have been as far as Kansas City and Davenport, Iowa. So I am not scared to travel some distances.

Are you looking for one to restore or already restored and ready to ride?

I was pretty interested in the one that was listed in the Whitney Point, NY craigslist a few weeks ago mentioned here on the forum. And I believe it just sold. It was mostly stock and he had retained the stock items that he had removed. It did have such changes as a different seat and newer model brake rotors - but again was mostly stock with relatively low mileage. I quizzed the owner about the bike and almost pulled the trigger, but I just never made myself decide to travel so far to get it.

So, I guess this condition of 78E is what I am looking for. Unrestored original is preferred. One that maybe needs "some" work, but not a project. Would rather have one that is not dressed or if it is, to be able to have the removed parts to put it back to stock. Now that may sound like a lot to ask, but surely there are some out there and I am able to wait to find the right one. Looking also for a MNS in same condition.

Last time I looked Mike New Jersey is on the other left coast. About the same distance as Missouri.

Geeze those Pacifico fairings are butt ugly.

                    Yes they are

I like the Vetter ones much better. That's what I have, need the bucket
and the stock front turn signal stalks to make all stock, but in reality if I am riding it, I prefer the comfort of a Vetter and it doesn't look THAT bad. It IS a Yamaha dealer installed one.

It's a combo of the fairing and the Macho maroon paint

It would look much better in carmine red.

                        They're still available.
Considering tinkering with them again (strange that I think about that every fall)

                          78 e

sorry you are so far away, I have a nice 78E (in Idaho), 44k miles, almost all original and complete, 4into2 chrome headers, includes Pacifico fairing and lowers, new Gustafson windshield, was repainted dark blue recently (some scuffs but nothing fatal), luggage rack, clear title and current plates... really good condition, carbs were not drained when they pulled the tank for repaint so carbs need good cleaning and floats are wacky, runs sort of, but for the work involved in some carb time somebody will have a gem, I have too many other projects to take on this one correctly... looking for $2000 cash, send me a pm if interested....
