    X?1100

I am looking into buying this bike but I was wondering if anyone can tell me what it is. The guy has it listed as an 83 XS1100 but if its an 83 doesnt it have to be an xj. Any help is appreciated.

Well, it's not an 83 that's for sure. looks like a kick starter on it and they were on 78s and i think some 79s but no specials were made in 78.
I'd guess it's a 1979 xs 1100 special but I'd ask for vin numbers from the frame and engine to be sure.

      Yup, that's an SF. A 79 special.

If your going to buy it you better check the VIN against the title.

I kinda thought it was a 79 special. I will definitely check the vin on the frame, engine, and title to make sure they all match. As anyone should do when buying any vehicle. Thanks for the information.

Also is that seat a stock seat? I have seen alot of other 79sf with this seat.

I don't believe it was a stock option however it was a popular aftermarket add on.

That's seat is uly as it gets. Well, almost. The only thing that could make it worse would be if it had a brown stripe down the center.

Happy Thanksdgiving to you too Duwayne.

I took that seat off a couple weeks ago and put the SG fender and grab bar back on with a highback seat from an MNS. It's all black, no stripe.

It still looks pretty much the same John. I'm looking at a small set of hard bags with the turn signals built into them to put on it. I need to figure out a different way to mount the sissy bar bag because with the tail light back up behind the seat it gets covered with what I have. If I can find a luggage rack to fit an SG or SH I have a trunk to put on there.

I'll be working on the other 2 bikes this winter also.

Make a tiny black shelf out of sheet metal to mount above the light on the light mounting bolts to keep bag from sagging over it.

That definitely looks like my bike which is a 1979XS11Special. The seat is obviously not stock. By the way, I am selling my bike which would be a treasure-trove of parts if anyone is interested. Not running.
