The engine is essentially identical to the XS1100, so any XS1100 gasket set will work. However, the only gasket you need out of the set is the Head gasket (it's actually often cheaper to buy the whole set than to just buy the Head Gasket itself). All other gaskets can be replaced with RTV, and will likely seal better anyway. You can get the set from many places, including PartsNMore.com
    1980 XS850SG - Sold
    1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the head gasket the one gasket that is different on the XJ because of the YICS ports?

Yes it is. Some people in the past has luck cutting the yics portion off the old gasket and using that as a suplimemt to an xs head gasket.

Or you could block off the yics ports (as most do anyways) and then it doesnt matter.

I strongly suggest doing that. Get the YICS eliminator, and leave it in there. No more YICS to worry about, and you can properly sync your carbs.
