  • SS Brake Lines

Apparently Galfer quit making kits for the 79 Special and same also with HEL. Does anybody know of someone who makes a front/rear kit, or has the dimensions already to custom order? Thanks, Jon

Make the lines up yourself. Here are the lengths for your Special:

      Hose #1 20-1/2” - Front M/C
      Hose #2 22-3/4” - Caliper
      Hose #3 22-3/4” -Caliper
      Hose #4 19” -Rear

I bought the lines at Z1 Enterprises. Buy the 30 degree banjo fittings and subtract their length from the line. IMHO, this is the best way to get the job done.

I am waiting for the final fit on a few lines right now but soon I will have the name of a trustworthy supplier. He will have every line for every stock XS11 shortly. I do not yet know the pricing. I have been working with him to get a master set for all XS11's. He can supply rubber or stainless steel lines and one can get colored as well. I will post them up as soon as I have the info. All but three of the lines for "all" of the models of XS11's are currently set to go. There is also a one piece replacement for the stock three piece rear brake line available if you want. Nice lines if you have a couple of weeks to wait.

A one piece rear line is the way to go in my opinion. Over the years with all the moisture in the brake fluid you will most likely have rust inside that steel line. Mine was actually rusted shut!

A lot easier, and less money to buy them from Coastgaurd on ebay then Z1 Ent.

These guys make custom length SS brake lines, all the components are DOT approved. I've bought SS lines from them twice and been very happy with the price and quality (paid $30 for two front lines on the first order and put those on a XJ750, and $45 for all three on the second order that go on the XS11). I did swap over to only two lines in the front, I felt it was better to get rid of as much of the old system as possible. The nice thing about these is that they are all one piece, ie: you don't have to by the lines and the banjo fittings. It makes for a somewhat cleaner install overall, you do need to make sure an get them clocked correctly as they can't swivel after they're made.

I can not answer that as I do not have a standard.

Should be the same. Rear reservoir is in the same spot and the caliper is in the same spot.
