  • Vacuum Advance 2H7

I need a complete unit for my 1980 SG but I understand from Andreas (who surprisingly doesn't have one) that all 1100's from 78 - 80 are compatible.

Anybody have one of these on the shelf? I'm tired of fixing the wires on mine

    Thanks

You may want to double check on that. Steve did a write-up on the advance units and how they are different. May have just been the mechanical advanced underneath the vacuum advance though.

        Hey Mike - PM sent

Nate - I repaired a broken pick up coil wire last year but it failed while on a road trip. Being in the forest at the time I had to make do with a bit of wire, crimpers , spade connectors and tape. Bit of a balls up but got me home. There is no wire left to work with so I figured to replace the whole thing.

Well now, here is an opportunity to use your scrounging skills. Find a heating and A/C shop, and talk them into giving you an old Honeywell two stage H/C thermostat. In it you will find some small flexible wire that just cry's to be used as replacement for the pickup wire in the advance mechanism. "Course, it isn't color coded, but some clever application of fingernail polish should fix that.
          Good luck, CZ

The 78 had a longer range of motion therefore advanced the timing farther. Be careful what you put a 78 advance on.
