  • Looking for a front brake fluid reservoir

Anyone got a spare front brake fluid reservoir? The small white plastic box that sits above the master cylinder. Or anyone know somewhere that stocks them?

Those can be very tough to find. They weren't listed as a separate part originally (you could only get a replacement by buying a whole new master) and most have now dried out and are 'cosmetically challenged'... At one time there was a limited supply of NOS ones, but those are gone and nobody is reproducing them. Best bet if no one here can help you is to look for a complete unit to rob it off of...

You also need to specify which one you need; while they all look the same, they aren't. The '78-79 standards used one type, the other models another and they don't interchange...

I'm trying to find the reservoir for a 79 Standard. Ironically, I lost the reservoir when I moved, just after finishing up rebuilding the cylinder. I have a whole 1979 Special cylinder+reservoir+lever, but the reservoir shows no signs of coming off the cylinder, and the specials are a slanted cylinder mount to match their handlebars.

Lee, do you know what yours is?

I know it's not the same, but it's just like the MNS one with a solid metal reservoir. Kinda pricy at $87 but it's brand new!

If you do end up making one out of aluminum, I would be interested in the cost of getting one too!

I thought all the reservoirs were the same. I know the mounts are different. So I could not mount just reservoir off a 79S onto my 81H mount?
