  • Gas tank rubber mount thingies and more.

Since I have to cool my heels for a couple weeks waiting for the oil seal to arrive, I figured I would turn my attention to a few of the other items that I have been neglecting.

-The rubber mount for the gas tank. I am missing one. Always have been. Its time to look into fixing that issue.

-Does anyone have the ability to make the sleeve for the 750 final drive conversion? I don't have access to anything that could cut it to the proper length, I figure if someone on here can make one easily, it would be easier to go that route.

Could buy a hack saw and just cut a piece of copper pipe as the sleeve.

    Everyone needs a hack saw.

Or, if your going the copper route (which is what I use when I do that mod) buy a pipe cutter. Now your set for the mod and for plumbing work around the house. And it is much less work and nicer cut than the hacksaw will give you.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

+1 to that. If you do go the hacksaw route, be sure to use a file to clean up the edges.

          Joab,
Send me your address and I'll be happy to send you one of my extra gas tank rubber cushions. You are talking about the ones on each side of the frame and is a cushion for the tank where it comes into contact with the frame?

          Let me know

I think he's looking for the forward mounts. The round circles that slip onto the pegs on the frame on either side of the forks. I may be wrong though.

Lol, ok, here is what I need. If this is what you meant Jamie, then let me know, and I will send you my address with a big thank you

Also, to everyone who commented on the copper pipe..

Do you think Ace Hardware carries the proper size copper pipe? I assume I could get a pipe cutter from them. Never had to buy pipe before...

Yes Ace would have the pipe and a cutter. You could probably even have them cut it for a couple bucks.

I will pull the sizes of the build thread, and hit up Ace next time I am in town. Thanks Nathan.

                    Joab,
Yes, those are the ones I was speaking of. I have several, so send me your address and they'll be on the way.
