The grab rail for the special is the one made out of round stock that bends at 135 degrees back, as opposed to the one that's like 45 degrees for the standard and made out of rectangular metal.
the 79 special grab rail is unique to the bike. I have seen them on 80 standards, also.
It's not the same rail as on the 78E & 79F that bolts onto the seat. it's bigger & mounts to frame.
When you talk about a square one I think you might mean th 80-81 special grab bar. Kinda ugly compared to the 79SF. i took mine off my 80 special.
