  • SF headlamp assembly

I have a bare bucket and need to fill it with light. Also need front turn signal stalks, and I'm not averse to replacing the whole assembly. What you guys got laying around?

Do you need the outer retaining/trim ring too?

Any 7" round lens will work for you as long as there are no mounting tabs (most are like that).

I have a retaining ring, it has some rash on it but it still works, that you could have for shipping cost.

I need the lense housing, the trim ring, and whatever it takes to hold the lense in the bucket. At the moment it just has two (obviously not original) bolts with nuts holding the bucket on the brackets where the turn signal stalks would normally go.

You can get the turn signals form any Eleven Special 79-81. The front and rears are the same piece, just the rear has longer wires on them.

The key pieces you need up front are the white plastic disc that converes it form a square peg to a round hole, the rubber gromets that go in the headlight ears/brackets. The stem of the turn signal is a bolt that goes through the healdight ears, and the headlight bucket and al the above mentioned gromets and such, then basically a fender washer and a nut to tighten it up.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

The headlight ring is the same on a bunch of bikes from 1973 through 1986, including the XS650. PN 341-84315-40-00 can be purchased for about $70 to $95. Mike's XS sells a reproduction for about half or less. See Part #09-0075.

Mike's XS has reproduction turn signal lights as well. You can find those from several sources.

Guys I appreciate all the offers greatly...nice to know there are a few trim rings around, at least. >.o

TV...that's a nice find, and it's right up my alley as far as the headlight itself goes. On closer inspection my bucket has been mangled around the edges, presumably for clearance with the fairing, so I need the full assembly after all. Are the '80 parts identical to the '79? I know there are some differences between bike sizes as I ordered a pair of "79 XS650" turn sigs off eBay and they turned out to have a different mounting pattern (a tear-shaped protrusion that does not match my square-hole grommets.) I'm on a budget so wasted parts are baaaaaad.

Those XS650 pieces are what you don't get when you buy new signals. You got a bonus. A new signal has nothing more than the threaded rod at the end. Trust me, the signals are the same. The mounts are different and a separate item. Those mounting parts are still available from YAMAHA. Your eBay purchase was good.

You may send the XS650 hardware to me. I'll put it to use

I though the stalks themselves looked right...I just can't mount them up because the original bases are among the parts missing off my mare. Good to know that they are indeed identical.

The tear-shaped protrusion has a chunk broken off on one of these mounts, but it still looks serviceable to me. If you want them PM me an address and I'll send them your way. I don't anticipate having any use for them.

                        Get a light?

Jason, Did you get the lighting stuff you needed?
I've got some . PM me if you want to discuss it.

DON"T GET A 650 headlite bucket! The little adjustor bracket on the bottom is on the wrong side of the lite.

750 & 850 will work, but you need the bottom adjustor bracket that's for the lite to fit it properly. Or you have to modify or make one.

The XS650 headlight bucket doesn't fit, but the trim ring is the same.

Got one on the way that's supposed to be off an 11. It looked like the adjusting tab was in the correct location in the pics. Dunno if it has the mounts for the turn signal stalks though....I kinda doubt it so I'm still looking for those (or better yet, signals with the mounts.)

Tom, if it doesn't work out, I'll be sure to drop you a line.
