  • Wanted, working Auto Cancel unit

Looking for a working auto cancel unit. cheap is good. I'm not feeling comfortable with the disclaimers on the ones on ebay with a decent price, they basically say they don't know if it doesn't work and if it doesn't that's just too bad, and the ones that say it does still say they don't guarantee it, and they want like $69 for those . Makes me mad, cause I had one that I got in a grab bag of parts a couple years ago, but I have NO idea where it got too, or what model it came off of, but they all look the same (I know the one on my 400 is bad so no use trying it).

I'm not sure what other models swap in, but all the ones I've seen look exactly the same, size, mounting point and connector and wire colors. But I need one that doesn't drop 3+ volts with a 30ma load on the output line (that's supposed to handle at LEAST 160ma load).

I may have one, but I'm not actually sure if it works or not... Here's the deal:

When I bought the bike, the OEM flasher was toast. I replaced it with a 2 prong automotive unit, which as you know, makes the signals work just fine, but I lose the auto-cancel function. Is there a way to test it with a multi-meter? If I can test it, and it works, I'd be willing to part with it.

Cy, I should still have the one form ole Thunderstruck laying around, let me check for it, I'll put it on Banshee to confirm it works.

Unfortunately without a load it can look good but be bad. Mine looks fine with no load, but put just a tiny 30ma load on it it fails. Since it's supposed to handle at LEAST 160ma without any drop in voltage, 30ma shouldn't bother it at all.

Thanks, if it works let me know what you need for it. It would be nice to be able to confirm the auto cancel mod works as I believe it will and as designed.

Cy, I've got three or four of them lurking somewhere and I know at least one of them is good, I just have to find it.

What bugs me is I realized that when I was working on my XS400 a couple of years ago I got a grab bag of parts (nuts bolts and stuff) that had a box in it that was an XS auto cancel unit. Unfortunately I can't find it anymore. It really sucks, cause the one on my 400 is bad, so I can't use it to test (and apparently the entire XS line uses the same auto cancel unit).
