    what broke?

The black box under the seat, or something else?
I've got the box for $35.00, if that's what you need.

Just for those of us with an inquisitive mind, how much do you weigh, and how rusted and/or modified was the seat pan? CZ

it was relocated under my seat, this bike is far from typical on this site atleast, the problem occured because I was riding with my girlfriend on a highway under construction. hit a spot in the road where they were grinding the pavement to be redone and dropped about 5 inches at 80 mph, the tire bottomed out and smashed the unit

          Thanks.
It sounds as though those of us with bikes in the original configuration do not have to worry about something like that happening to us.
On mine, the shocks stop the tire from touching the fender when fully compressed. CZ
