  • Carb balls and spring

    Looking for one ball and 2 springs for the choke rod 3 position set.
    I have carb parts to trade form 78,79 set or outright cash.
    1980 midnight xs1100 Rebilt cosmetically
    1980 midnight xs850 bagger
    1980 Special xs1100 (all apart)
    1979 special Special runner
    2011 street glide

    I'm also short these for a set of carbs. I've got a source for the balls (in fact, I already have those) and bought some springs but they didn't have enough tension. I ordered some different, stiffer springs today, if these work out I'll be able to fix you up....

        The balls can be had from any local hobby shop that does RC cars. They are the same as the ball bearings in some of the small transmission gears. HTH

            FWIW, the ball is 1/8 inch.

              Yeah, the detent balls are easy to find... it's the springs that are tough. They are really stiff and finding something small enough that can overcome the tension from the enrichener plunger springs is the trick.

              Yamaha still lists these as a good part... at $9 each! That must make them worth about $1k per pound...
