  • I need front brakes!!!!!!

    i need the left side brake caliper, if your standing in front of the bike facing it its the one on the left.

    i have a 1980 xs1100

    i have a pic of it ill snd, i just got the bike im not to shure ive gotten parts from a 1980 that dont fit it.. so.

    pleaes email me if you have one.

    Which side of the bike somethig is on is typically referred to from the riding position, so sit on the bike facing the bars, from that position, your right is right side and left is left side.

    You did not specify if you have a Standard model or a Special model. The front brakes are completely different between the two. If your axle is mounted directly to the bottom of the forks you have Standard forms and will use Standard brakes. If the axle is mounted to the front of the fork tubes just abve the bottom, then you have Special model forks and will need Special model brakes.

      caliper

      does it have 2 bolts holding it on, or 1 threw center with nut at top?
      79 xs 1100 spec & 80 xs 1100 g

        Welcome to the site. You will get all the answers you need here. In addition to my XJ1100, I have an 80 Standard, but it's still in boxes waiting for me to put it together.

            oh and as for the bike i dont know if its a standard special or? i just got it about 2 weeks ago. the side covers just says eleven, but those could be off another bike. the gas tank has the center cap not the side cap

              The front forks say your bike is a standard. As such, it shares brake components with the XS650, for which parts are plentiful. You may shop brake components at 650 Central, Mike's XS, and well as the few XS11 parts vendors out there. New calipers are available if the problem becomes serious enough to warrant it. Mike's XS has them.

                well i need the right caliper for shure as the bleeder is broken off inside and is all tore up.

                    Your forks are from a standard so thats the type of calipers that you need. I have a set of Special frount brakes but that wont help you much.

                      and your calipers are on backwards the bleeder screw goes on top

                              does it need rebuilt? or is it bolt on ready to go?

                              this is my first major restore/rebuild most my bikes are newer and run good so i dont have to deal with this hah.
