All right, you asked for it.
I just replaced a broken needle on a Special tach, and can give you some advice. DO NOT take off what is left of the needle. It has two pins going down through the round hub, and the end with the needle has a small brass weight that one of the pins holds in place. ( Under the round hub ). It looks like the ends of the pins were heat deformed to hold things together.
Take a small Dremel tool burr, and grind down the top of what is left of the needle. Leave about of a third of the height of the needle to hold everything in place. Take a wooden tooth pick, the flat kind, and it has a taper that is not to far off from the original needle. Sand it smooth, paint it with model airplane paint, the color of your choice, and glue it onto what is left of the needle stub. Good Super glue, epoxy, clear is preferable. Don't touch the flat black face if you can help it. The flat sheen can get screwed up easily, and is almost impossible to restore to original sheen. DAMHIK. Good luck, and let us know how you make out. CZ
I may have one here. I had a bad tach a while back and I did disassemble it. I am not sure where I put it but I will look around and see if it is still here or if I tossed it. Will let you know asap.
