  • WTB: XS1100 Engine

So I tried to find a used engine last spring with no luck so here I am again. My engine in my '80 XS1100 Standard is on it's last legs due to bad compression caused by bad rings. If you have a decent used engine or even a parts bike with a decent engine that is anywhere halfway close to Williston, ND, please please please give me a shout.

    Thanks!

You could put new rings in it. You would most likely need to use 1st oversized rings amd file down the ends to fit but lots have done it and I am almost done doing it. As long as the bore is still in spec just give it a light honing and put the new rings on. There is a guy on ebay that always seems to have a few sets of rings on hand.

That or you can perhaps find a set of cylinders with the matching pistons from a decent engine being parted out.

I have a set of cylinders with a matching set of pistons coming out of a 20k mile engine re-build right now. The engine was running good with no issues a month ago before getting a Wiseco 1196 piston kit and a top end. Due to PO issues with other items on bike, I wanted to go through everything. Let me know if you are interested.

P.S. I also have a spare parts motor if there are certain parts only that are needed.

I'd like to thank everyone for their offers but I decided to get a new bike instead. This is my thread about it: http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32258
