  • Need a more "realistic" speedo for my 81xs

Looking for a speedo that actually fits my xs11 a speedo that only goes to 85 on a bike like these is kinda pointless, I've heard that the 78_79 xs had one that went to 160 our so? Anybody have any ideas for me?

Sorry this has nothing to do with a speedo but I grew up just south of Grand Forks! My brother and brother in law both live in Fargo!

Yeah the early years had real speedos so you can just use an early year speedo. The specials had the round gauges and the standards had the square gauges so you can search ebay and thwy usually have a few sets on there.

The speedo from the XS750/850 works too. I have one on my LG that goes to 140 MPH.

Check out the xs650-850 parts on ebay.

You can get a 140mph that'll bolt right in for way less $ than they want for the xs1100 unit.

              good luck.

They don't twitch at 85. They keep on going around the dial. Mine has been around as far as the "m" in mph at the bottom of the dial.

It also works when the Police pull you over and say "did you know you were going 105mph" "jees ofusir my speedo don't even go that high"

I have a 160 mph speedo from a standard (square) out on the junk pile. The trip meter nob is broken off. You can have it if you still need one. Maybe you can rob your old one.

Don't know how yours does that. Mine has a stop at 85 that won't let the needle go any further. I'd have to open it up and remove that little post to let it go past that point.

My luck it would be the needle that would twist off the post rather than the stop breaking off. Not that I go that fast anyways. I really have this aversion to spending the night in jail, and around here at that speed that's where your going by the time your pass that little pin.
