  • looking for turn signals

i am removing the fairing from my bike, going back to naked look. i have a headlight/bucket, and now need turn signals. i'm told there are single and dual element light, and i have no idea which i need? any help/info on how to identify would be great, as well as the lights themselves. thank you, fred mcclain.

Well the first major question would be so you need the round or the rectangle signals? What model bike do you have?

          oops again.

and would they mount on the side of the headlight, or on the fork legs? i've seen both ways.oh, and would mine originally have a round, or square headlight housing/headlight?

If your bike really is an f and not an sf then it would have the rectangular headlights and turn signals. Also the front signals would attach down on the fork legs and not to the headlights ears.

Fred, one thing to look at, is do you already have headlight ears on the bike? Alot of times they are lef tin place when a fairing is mounted. If you do, are they rectangular in shape? Or are they more rounded off triangle in shape?

The square shaped ears work with the square headlight, the rounded off triangular shaped ones are for the round headlight of a Special model.

If you do have an f you will need dual filiments for the front since they are running lights and blinkers. Also the rear should be square as well and single filament.
Both types can be found at partsnmore for about 15 bucks a pop or denniskirk for about 30 bucks the frnts also have reflectors that are mounted on the side of the ears. These hold the bucket in place.

                  headlight/turn signals

yes i still have the headlight mounting ears, they're triangle shaped with square mount holes. and my rear signals are round. so i have a special, and the headlight would have been round from what i'm reading.so i need dual filiment turn signals, and a round headlight/bucket. thanks to all for the help.

Just to be sure check your VIN number (best one would be the one stamped into the steering neck) against this list http://www.xs11.com/faqs/153-serial-...ry-colors.html

Then you would know for SURE what you have. If you want the round you can do that, if you want the rectangle you can do that too dont matter.

                      model

looks like mine is a sf.i'd like to get it back to factory original.so mine should be a round headlight, and round signals to match the rear. would the front be single filiment then?

Yes; only the standards had the front 'running' light for some reason.
