  • Need! No good pickup coils

I need a few pickup coils that are of no use. What i want to do is attempt a rewind on a pair I have found a source on the coated wire, and a good silicone covered lead wire that has 1320 fine wire strands. I have done this kind of thing before, and i think i can solve some of the pickup problems by making new ones, as long as everything is ok except for the wiring. it can have a hole blown in the winding, doesn't matter, because it will all be replaced. I will be glad to pay for shipping. I could use 4 if i can get them.

Bob, I'm planning to ride up north next week, good Lord willing and the crick don't rise and the drywall screw fairy finds someone else's tires to bless, so I could bring a couple of coils up with me.

Will do. Now that I have the new brake pads seated and the tires scrubbed in I'm going over a fairly short list of stuff to pack and stuff to leave at home. Pickup coils are on the 'pack' list.

If 3P can't make it, I have some in my stash that only have about 1/4 inch of wire on them but test good. Since I have a couple sets of good spares, I probably won't try to resurrect these. The problem is, I don't know where the hell they are and it would take me a while to find them...

This is very ambitious project and more that I would try to take on... I found that 280Z pick ups are very close but not close enough to fit without machine work...

Thanks Tony. If you come accross them let me know. I know it is not an easy task, but this is an item that if i am successful at it, will help out the XS community a lot i think. I used to rewind electric motors, and welders and such, so i feel fairly sure of myself on this one. The big thing i worry about is my eye sight on this.
