There's been a guy on Ebay with a new cap for $61 for a dang year I think. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamah...Q5fAccessories

Apparently this cap is used on quite a few bikes.

        Go here... http://www.yamahapartshouse.net/page.../2/Yamaha.aspx

Go to the quick part lookup on the right side. In the first box enter Yamaha. In the second, paste this part number. 4X7-24602-02-00

Then look at all the different bikes it shows. I think you can find it cheaper than this on Ebay, but this just shows all the different searches you could use to look for it.

Here's one that doesn't appear to have the key, but it's cheap enough that you could get a locksmith to get a new key made for it for 20-25 bucks.

        http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-...Q5fAccessories

        Good luck on your hunt.

Hey.. PMd you with a nice one. Didn't want to list it here and risk getting outbid. If I hadn't found it for you, I'd have gotten this one.. lol.

Is that also the right part number? The fische shows 4X7-24602-00-00. Is there any difference between the two part numbers? according to boats.net, it seems that the fitment between the 00-00, 01-00, 02-00, and 03-00 part numbers is quite different.

The part number I showed came from Yamaha's site and their parts fische. The other bikes that have the same gas cap that I looked up have the same part number that I listed.. eg the XJ750 and the XV920. Not sure where you got your part number from but I have seen wrong information in the fische before.
