  • 80 special parts needed

    Hi all,
I'm new here as you can see. I have a XS1100 special built in 7-79. I'm in need of a set of fuel petcocks and possibly the intakes for the carbs. This bike sat for years and the guy can't find the petcocks. I want to get it running and verify that it's solid before I restore it for sale or just sell it as is. I specialize in CX's and carb rebuilds and polishing, but this was too good to pass up when it was offered to me. Especially being titled. I have 6 bikes already and want to thin out the heard.

Any help with the parts would be a big leap to getting this one on the road again.

    Thanks in advance,
    Larry

    left petcock

I took the tank off the bike and found the right petcock under it. I need the left one and it has to have the vacuum fuel control on it. Any suggestions would be great. I really want to get this bike running soon.

As mentioned in another thread, since you have a Special (the SF), the vacuum control comes from the "Octy", not from the petcock. Do you still have the Octy on there? Both petcocks should be identical, except for the filter and the label on the outer ring being reversed.

Here is a picture of what it should look like. The Octy is the thing at the lower left corner of the picture. It mounts to the top of the carbs.

Sorry It took so long to get back to you. I was finishing another bike before I got into this 1100.
I do not have an Octy on this bike. There is one vacuum line to each petcock and one fuel line to the center between each pair of carbs.
I'm going to take pictures of the bike today but I'm not sure how to post on this forum. Is there another area on the forum that I should do a post for advice and help while doing this bike project?

By the way. The side covers do say XS1100 Midnight special.

You must have a bit of a Frankenbike then... The "Specials" (including the MNS) have the Octy (some have simply removed it from the fuel circuit) and the Standards have the vacuum petcocks like what you describe. There is a chance that what you have is simply a mix of a couple different bikes. If you are looking for a Standard petcock, member andreashweiss might have one, or try ebay. They pop up now and again.
