  • Hit a deer need parts

Got a darned deer on my way to work Wednesday morning. Beat myself up pretty good too. 5 broken ribs, collapsed lung, smashed my right hand all up and my left knee. I'm slowly looking into what I'm going to need to get things back up and running without hitting my pocket too hard. Fortunately I was going fairly slow about 45 mph. Figured I'd ask here first for a parts list availability.

    1. Triple Tree
    2. Handle Bars
    3. Forks
    4. Headlight
    5. Mirror (LH)
    6. Left side cover
    7. Stator Cover.

As of right now that's all I know I need.. This is an 81 XS 1100 SH

    Mannnn!!!

Sorry to hear that! Hope you'll be ok! Get well soon!

Probably the best place to start looking would be to contact one of our fellow members here that salvages these bikes and resells the parts... Andreashweiss. He usually keeps a list of what he has on hand in the "parts for sale" forum. Ya might also find an entire bike as a parts bike cheap. Ebay motors would be another.
Better luck down the road to ya!

I have much of that stuff ...

and I'm headed up to Williamsport next week from NC to visit my Mom. Give me a call at 951.443.9708 or PM me.

Really sorry about the accident .... I have had several close calls with deer in PA and elsewhere .... once even in broad daylight at about noon in Colorado. You just never know when one is gonna' jump out there. Scares the **** outa' me. Lay low for a while and get better and call if I can help.

Ouch. I guess telling you jokes is out for a week or two but at least you're mostly in one piece and getting your bike back together!

Hey guys, starting to feel much better. It's been 5 weeks and things are healing pretty fast. Now it's time for the bike to start healing. I've come across an 83 Virago 750, I'm wondering if the fork tubes are the same as the XS1100. Anyone have any idea? Somewhere I saw a list of bikes with the same tubes as the 1100 but I can't seem to find it now.
