I would suggest foregoing the toolkit, and making your own. The OEM set was a bit low quality. You'd be better off assembling a kit of your own with real tools. As you're working on it, make a list of the things that you use, and slowly buy a piece at a time. Once you think you have a decent set, you can even create a pouch to store them in that fits in the toolbox. As for the kickstart, there's one on ebay right now with no bids (being sold by a member here).

I'm mostly only looking for the special tools that the manual says are in the factory kit. i've got my own mostly craftsmen everything else but i want to make sure i've got everything i might need before i hit the road for two days to k.c. from chicago. i'll look for the kicker and andreas said they've got one for fifteen.

Sounds like a fun trip. I'm about centered between those two locations (though not exactly a straight line) if you run into trouble along the way. I may be able to lend some assistance. Good luck!

I am pretty familiar with the st. louis area. my mom is from there my sis. lives there along with many aunts uncles and cousins not to mention a former coastie friend of mine. i do frequent the stl area alot and will be there in june if you want to get together for a ride. however the trip is going to take me north on eighty because it takes about an hour off the trip and i have a very close female friend on the way. thanks for the offer and i will prolly take you up on it for the next st. louis trip i take.
