Wheel Bearings?

I'm trying to find a set of rear wheel bearings for a 79 special and the Yamaha dealers are saying that they can't get them, does anybody know of anywhere that I can pick some up new?

Most bearings

have the size markings on the side of the bearing. Remove the bearings and find a bearing company in your area, and give them the numbers they should stock them, or take the bearings in with you and they can measure them for you. I've done this on other bikes that I owned.

Success! I found the bearings today, one at a local motorcycle shop the package looks like its been on the shelf for a while and the other I cross refrenced the part number through another motorcycle shop, and they got it for me! It added up to right around $90. Ouch! But I went ahead and did it anyway, Once again Xs11.com has saved the day, thanks again everybody!

Backfire bearing success

I thought I was in the clear with the bearings but I got a call today from the shop that I ordered the bearings from, and the place they were getting them from doesn't carry them any more. So I am back to sqaure one . Please If anybody knows where I can get the bearings new I would be so grateful! I've looked all over the internet and no luck.

Lh rear wheel bearing

Yes it is the dreaded left hand rear bearing, the thick one, I beleive that its 20 x 37 x 23mm Id x Od x width. I've tried everywhere including my local bearing supply store. I did find a web site called CMS located in the Netherlands that says they have it, I'm waiting for the email like all the others I've gotten, saying "they've been discontinued and the webpage hasn't been updated." I read a thread about somebody that found another bearing thats narrower that you could use with a shim and I wonder if anybody has actually done that? So once again I begging if anybody knows anywhere that this bearing is available please let me know.

I found a thread on here by searching "wheel bearings" it looks like the part # you are looking for is NA5904 made by NTN Bearing company.
I called a bearing store here, they don't stock it (but they do show it as a good #) and would have to call the factory Monday.

If you find that they in fact do have them, and you can afford it, buy a bunch. There are many members here who have searched for them and would buy them from you. I had a guy here who said he could get them, so I tried to buy 10-20 or whatever he could supply. Too bad he could not get them.

I just found these in stock in georgia. I ordered 5, what a pain in the bearings this was. I will let you know when they are in should be wednesday 4/1/09

Rear Right Bearing?

I hope that they have them, I looked and looked, and lots of people said they had them and would even order them, but later would let me know they'd been discontinued. Even the place in the Netherlands canceled the order due to unavailability. I hope that the place in Georgia can get them and if so order as many as you can! Plenty of guys need them.
