When you say "beyond rebuild", just how bad are they? There is no readily available easy upgrade. Anything you find is going to be as old as what you already have, and it may or may not, probably will not, be in any better condition than yours.

Over the years, a lot of folks have been able to get their bad carbs back into shape with the information in the tech articles here on the forum, and with step by step feedback and encouragement from other posters.

        carbs

I had found a great set on ebay and went to buy but they had been bought under the buy now option by somebody else, mine however are in pretty bad shape the piliot jets are frozen and stripped from a previous owner and the air mixture screws dont provide any adjustment, the throtle slides are pretty scored up, and as if that wasn't enough when I went to rebuild them despite it all the float pin mount was broken on one of the carbs as well. Maybe I'm being lazy but I like to work smarter sometimes, but almost always end up working harder most of the time? So I guess I'm looking for any sort of a solution.

            upgrade

After I found out my bs34-11 were shot I looked for carbs in better shape as well, I found a set of 85fj1100 carbs that slipped right in the carb boots and required very little mod , I run it with a single throttle cable for now and got a handlebar mounted choke lever on fleabay for cheap YRMV

              Carb options I like it!

85 fj 1100 carbs, how does she run? It looks like it still uses the vacume carb slides too. I'm going to have to look into that one, did you have to change the jets? What all did you have to mod? As for Ebay I've been watching a few, and will be watching some fj's too.
              thanks

                mods

You should get a push pull right hand control a bar mounted choke control , the right throttle cables and as far as jetting goes they are the same as 80s carbs, I have a 78 with high flow 4/1 exhaust and pod filters and I am running 120 mains, and 42.5 pilots , oh yeah the fuel inlets on the bs36 is is larger so I rigged up an adapter to go from 1/4 to the bigger fj fuel inlets

Garth, just curious. How'd you hook up the vac advance on those FJ carbs? Is there a port for that?

                        Hi "tbishop11"
I have a set of carbs in good working condition. but I'm from Belgium. They were on my last XS a few month ago.
If you're yet interested, Pm me so I can send you pictures.
For your information: DHL and Fedex at too much expensive from Belgium to US: for a pack of 3 kg they ask 132euros(Fedex) and 108euros(DHL) but if I use the most expensive sending system of our national post (with tracking and sign for reception), it costs only 47euros.without assurance(24 euros more)
Even if you're were no or no more interested, let me know something

                        Alex
                        Greetings from Belgium

                        sorry for the mistakes.... (((

I have a set of carbs, the early type. They are not fully complete, but may be of use to you. You may be able to use these and your own carbs to get your scoot going.

If you want, I can get some pics. We can haggle prices.

I think the only things missing are some of the screws and the vent and fuel tees, but I am not sure, been a while since I looked them over.

                              Carbs

                              Ivan,
I'm looking for something in the 1978 range because I hear that they have the 45 pilot jets, that way I would only have to change my main jet due to some individual filters and open pipes. I would love to see pics of what you've got though (beggers can't be choosers) my email is
