Well my speedometer died. I pulled the guts out and the the gear is stripped. Does anyone have the guts of a 1982 XJ1100J speedometer that is going cheap?

There was one on eBay over the weekend. Just a note: If/when you get a replacement, pull it off and check the various screws that hold the assembly together. Some XJ speedos were apparently assembled with screws that are to long, causing interference and the wear on the brass worm gear. I'm on my 3rd speedo....

There are a couple ways to "fix" the speedo. A couple guys have installed electronic spedo units, others have adapted an XS11 speedo unit. Do a search on XJ Speedometer and you will find quite a few threads to look through.

I'm unfamiliar with the internals of an XJ speedo but I have a special XS speedo that the little spring got f'd up on, I'd be happy to send it to you if it will work.
