  • 1981 XS1100 LH (Midnight Special)

Would like to locate both side covers with emblems. Have repainted ones to trade if necessary.
Matches part numbers with 1980 XS1100 Midnight Special also.
If in good condition, willing to pay retail value. My left side won't lock in place. PO broke off instead of using key.
Also, looking for manual or good factory service manual. I have the Chilton's and it's limited. Any one have the Haynes? Kim

Fanning, you can repair the broken lock tab on your left side sidecover. Have a read through this thread

You can look, but I think you will discover that finding a used, unbroken one will be almost impossible. Better to fix the one you've got.

Just checked for a thread on a luggage rack. Any threads on creating a luggage rack for the 81' XS1100? Ebay info too inadequate to ensure a good fit, and they are on the expensive side; plus shipping on top of that. Thinking of making one if anyone has schematics? Anyway of looking up part numbers/etc of 1981 rack providers? Any links to old suppliers of that kind of equipment? Appreciate any help. Could go sissy bar route and tie bag on, I suppose. Kim
