  • Caswells gave up

In April 1999, I lined the Cherry Bomb's tank with Caswells expoy. I bought the thing with what looked like Kreem liner in it. The Kreem flakes caused troubles (failing) and I used acetone soak and pea gravel (bad idea) to get rid of the stuff over a period of a couple of days. The Caswell's held up all of this time...until now. I had the tank off, drained, to paint it when I noticed the sound of something loose in there. I was hoping a filter tower had come loose. I removed the fuel float and sender unit hatch and pulled out large pieces of the epoxy. It looks as if one side has failed. It is still flexible, so it was easy enough to pull out of there. I might just let it go as-is and not screw with more lining. The epoxy did not have a layer of rust on it, so maybe it wasn't so bad in the first place?
