Individual filters

Over the years, one frequent thread has been about individual air filters. Some of the arguments in favor of this type filter include:

• Improved looks
  Easier access for carb adjustment and removal
  Improved performance

The first two improvements are intuitive, but I have no direct XSperience with changes in performance. However, several XSives, including Lanny Marshall and Denny Zander, have claimed noticeable performance increases with individual filters. Of course, improved air flow through the filters requires re-jetting. Denny Zander's Jetting Recommendations provide guidance for this modification.

I just received a set of Emgo "K&N style" filters for one of my "non-XS" bikes.


I bought them from Cycle-Re-Cycle II in Indianapolis. Their price of $8.95 ea. makes these a real bargain.
