LOL.. Tom , I see my sarcasm doesn't transfer well to written text. I lived in Vegas the 4 years I was stationed there, and all around there is a dirt bike paradise. That is just about the one singular thing I miss about living there. A short jaunt to any of the hills (Mountains) around you should provide ample places to try out your, and the bike's, climbing abilities. The main problem I see, looking over that thing, is if you find a hill that won't climb, I'm not sure I'd want to actually be on it or the bike. lol. Getting too old for cartwheels down hills.

Very interesting fabrication for the mounting of the magneto and chain drive. Would be interested in seeing more detail on those.

Just wanted to thank everyone for there comments and suggestions.

Let me comment on each of them. trbig: Thanks for the note. As you said. Not too hilly around Las Vegas but Dumont Dunes are pretty close. The bike doesn't have any on board batteries. It takes 24 volts to turn the starter fast enough to start with the magneto. I use a remote starter but maybe I could come up with a way to make a bracket and carry them with me. I do have some nice foam pods that should keep the sand out.

Schming: Thanks for the suggestion. I looked into Sand Drags. But the ones around here really tear up the track. They are more suitable to quads, trucks and old dragsters.

DiverRay: Yours was my favorite idea. I do have a title so I could make this street legal. I thought of going to a dirt bike rear wheel. Any suggestions for a swing arm and rear wheel?

Crazy Steve: We definitely think alike. The rear wheel is from some kind of

15 inch ATV wheel. And I have another wheel just like it which the PO gave me. I found an old 15 inch cheater slick that someone was tossing. I think I will throw it on just for grins.

Shorten the swingarm a bunch, put a car tire on it, add enough stuff to make it street legal and cruise that baby.... You'll have the only one!

Swingarm and chain drive tire, put a pully and alt on it, lights and your ready to kill most bikes on the street! Oh, you MAY want a larger fuel tank. With the Webbers, and open pipe, you are probably getting about 20MPG/tank....

I would suggest some air filters first.

I picked this xs up quite awhile ago on ebay. It was once in the widowmaker hillclimb in California. It has chain drive, magneto, weber carbs and a lot of other neat stuff. I am trying to decide what to do with it. Don't really want to sell it, but can't use it in this configuration. I have been on this site for a long, long time and you guys always seem to have good ideas. Open to any suggestions. Thanks Tom[/IMG]
