  • Slip-On Muffler Advice/Discussion

Going down the same path many others have been force to go, trying to figure out what route to go with slip ons for my XJ...would like to keep the slash cut look. One determining factor will be which header I use. I have a set of OEMs that are pretty rusty on the down tube side facing the motor, they'll need to be painted/coated to look decent. The OEMs measure 1.5" on the OD. Also have a decent set of Jardine Spaghetti 4-2s measuring 2" OD. How big a difference in dimensions between the end of the headers and the slip on end of the muffs can you get away with by using some type of connector...thinking about back pressure as you size up or down from header to muffs. I know Dyna and Sportster HDs are an option but don't the HD systems have the mufflers on the same side of the bike? Would this leave mounting bracket of one muffler exposed on one side of my bike? What about aftermarket slash cut slip ons...what have you all used that you were pleased with? I know there is a current thread Crazy Steve started to gather info and pictures of HD adaptations but doesn't seem to be much there yet to help those like me facing this dilemma for the first time.

Thanks in advance for any info you can share with us.
