  • Warning Light blinks

I recently have got my 1982 1100 Maxum running that the previous owner had let sit in his garage for years. Bike has only 10 K on it and in good shape so I bought to fix up. Have carbs cleaned and rebuilt, Gas tank cleaned up nice inside with CLR. I rebuilt petcocks and the vac. valve. Started right but intend to sync asap. All electrics and light works as they should I think. The one problem I have is the instrument panel that does the self checking rigth after start up. The warning light stops on the gas gauge and that indicator stays on. I did I have to pull the gas float assembly out of the tank and clean the rust from it. I'm pretty sure I got it back in the rigth way. Am I on the right track assuming the float assembly has an issue. I did see a post on the internet where there is a rheostat that is part of the float assemby that needs to be cleaned. Does it sound like I'm on the right track or any other idea would be appreciated. Thanks
