throttle cable?

hey i am getting ready to repair my poor tank where the throttle cable j bendy peice rammed into it at 20 mph... i have the daytona bars and they are so low that the metal tube touches the tank! they have about a 7" pull back on them... i thought about buying the european bars you can see both at mikes xs or jc witney... they appear to be taller and they are more straight and only have about a 5" pull back. is there a way to determine easily what style you want for the bars and or is there a throttle cable maker who has less of a hang down on the j bend part. the one on my bike hangs down about 3"... i want bars that are a little taller and that are a little straighter! i don't like the bent angled wrist position. i want mine more like what's on a mountain bike or a dirt bike... any ideas?
