  • CCT leak/Fix example

My Cam Chain Tensioner developed a leak at the black plug while I was in Arizona. After reading some of the threads here in which owners removed and replaced their CCTs and then had problems afterwards, I decided to do the best I could with the CCT still in place.

Pictured above (sigh...wish my camera had a macro function.) is an installed copper end cap measuring about 1 inch in diameter and about 1 and 1/8 inches long. The outside of the CCT was cleaned with acetone, textured with 80 grit sandpaper, and the end cap was epoxied in place using JB Weld. The hole drilled in the top of the cap was to allow air to escape as the cap was slid over the CCT.

Copper end cap was bought in the plumbing section of a local hardware store. Repair has lasted over 1K and so now I'm considering what color to paint the cap: silver or black.
Working...
