Thanks to all for pushing me to keep plugging away at my clutch issue. This is my first bike.
I put the new cable back in, readjusted the arm (a little tighter this time) and took up the slack at the lever. It stalled once going into gear so I rocked it back and forth in gear for a couple minutes, started it, pop it in and IT KEPT RUNNING! Immediately pulled onto the road and basically did a lot of clutch work between 1st and 2nd. I went through all the gears and it seems to shift really well. Maybe its was just stuck?!? It was not driven for about 10 months.
The bike feels good and I don't even know what a good bike feels like. When I get out of the wuss stage, I will get a better feel for the bike at speed, but for now it seems solid.
Grinning ear to ear, my first ride (after the safety/training course) and it just happens to be an xs1100 - how good is that!
Thanks again for the advice.
