  • The Mystery Hoseâ„¢ ... where the hell does this go?

I had a great ride from the office today and happened to notice a stray hose on the right side of the bike when I got home.

It's a drain hose of some kind, venting down low on the left side of the bike. When I noticed it the thing was hanging loose down by the rear wheel but judging by how it's strapped to the frame underneath I think it's supposed to attach to something on the right side of the bike.

The drain hoses (or whatever they're called) to the battery and the gas tank are both in place and I'm not sure where this damned mystery hose connects to.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

      Pilot Relief Tube?

Only two hoses I've noticed in the back are the fuel "over flow" (attaches right in front of seat) and battery over flow hoses. Looks too long for any vent hose.

Those are the first two I thought of, but both appear to be in place... leaving me with The Mystery Hoseâ„¢.

          Okay Datter,

As said, one hose for fuel overflow, check, another for battery overflow, check. Another hose fits onto the middle gear vent tube, but is routed up under the tank to vent to air.

I've seen a small nipple on the bottom of the air box, so a hose could be attached there so that in case the carbs leak, instead of pouring out onto the back of the engine, the hose could route it away to the ground! That's all I can think of, but you didn't say whether you had the vent hose for the middle gear!?

Tsunami has two hoses sticking down, bu Purple Reign has three. The third one is a middle drive vent. On Purple Reign, the middle drive vent is trouted down with the other two. On Tsunami, that hose is routed up under the seat to a little retainer clip.

ok, maybe it's the middle drive... where exactly do i find the nub for this mysterious middle drive connection?

Right here. Not the big, crankcase vent hose going up to the airbox, the smaller one curving down to the right in this photo:

I am sure I have read a post that it is not a good idea to route the middle gear vent hose downward with the other hoses? I don't remember what the issue with doing it that way is. On my bike there is no clip up under or around the fuel tank that will accept that hose so I have mine pull strapped to the fuel tank over flow hose.

Thanks Ken, I'll check into that in the morning before I set out. Much appreciated.
